The Woman in the Window (2021)

I watched a new film on Netflix at the weekend.

The Woman in the Window (2021)

It’s a pretty good mystery thriller that’s based on the 2018 novel of the same name by A. J. Finn.

I say “pretty good” in that it’s not “brilliant” but it’s certainly worth a watch. 🤷‍♂️

It’s currently in Netflix’s top 10.

The movie stars lots of actors you’ll know such as Amy Adams (Arrival), Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Julianne Moore (Magnolia) - not to mention Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Bryan Tyree Henry (Joker) among others.

This is what it’s about:

“Confined to her home by agoraphobia, a psychologist becomes obsessed with her new neighbours - and solving a brutal crime she witnesses from her window.”

Amy Adams is really good in this movie. Wyatt Russell and Gary Oldman’s performances also stood out, although Oldman’s role is surprisingly smaller than you’d expect.

I’d describe this as a cross between films like Panic Room (2002), Disturbia (2007) and Copycat (1995), but in my opinion not as good as any of those individually.

As good as it is I worked out what was going on quite early on into the movie which is unlike me. It held my interested though and kept me watching right up until the end.

I’d be lying if I said this was the best mystery thriller I’ve seen, but if you fancy something that’s engaging and isn’t going to steal an hour and forty minutes of your life I’d give it a go.

Seen it? What did you think? 🤔
