The Night Before (2015)

A couple of nights ago I watched a film I’ve been meaning to watch since it came out five years ago.

The Night Before (2015)

Although I’m not quite ready to start the yearly Christmas film binge yet, someone mentioned in the comments of my Michael Shannon post last week that he was good in this movie so I thought, “what the hell, it’s almost December, I’ll get it watched.”

Verdict: It’s hilarious!

If you haven’t seen it, it stars Seth Rogan (Knocked Up), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises), Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Lizzy Caplan (Hot Tub Time Machine) among others.

This is what it’s about:

Every Christmas Eve for the last decade, three best friends have reunited for a wild night in New York City - but with the trio getting older and facing new responsibilities, they decide it’s time to end their tradition. They plan one last epic night together which includes finding their way to a legendary party called the Nutcracka Ball, the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.

This movie is worth watching just for Seth Rogan! For most of the film he’s tripping on a concoction of drugs with absolutely hilarious results!!

As much as it’s an all out laugh fest though, it does have a number of meaningful themes that make the movie more than just a laddish comedy, and you really believe their friendship due to the great chemistry between the actors.

Personally I think this might be more of a guy’s movie but I might be wrong (let me know). Either way, it’s worth a watch, especially if you’re in the mood for a good laugh. 😆👌

Seen it? What do you think? 🤔
