Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) Overture by Michael Kamen - Opening Credits Scene

So I’ve just been enjoying a couple of beers while listening to my Soundtrack Scores Playlist (the one I mentioned recently in my ranty post about the last Star Wars Trilogy) and this absolute beaut came on! I’d go as far as to say that it’s one of the best film opening themes in movie history.

It was written by the late great Michael Kamen who also composed the music for films like Lethal Weapon (1987), Highlander (1986), Die Hard (1988), Road House (1989) and Last Action Hero (1993) to name just a few. Sadly he died of a heart attack at the age of 55 on the 18th November 2003.

I’ll always remember going to see this movie at the cinema with my cousin when I was 11. It remains one of my all time favourite cinema experiences.

Interestingly a section of this theme (heard from 0:53 to 1:08) was used as the Morgan Creek Productions theme.

What are you watching/listening to tonight - and more importantly, what are you drinking…?
