Long Shot (2019)

I watched a film at the weekend that I’d been aware of for a while but had expressed no real desire to watch:

Long Shot (2019)

If you haven’t seen it, it’s an unorthodox romantic comedy starring Seth Rogan (Knocked Up) and Charlize Theron (Monster) among others.

This is what it’s about courtesy of IMDb:

“Journalist Fred Flarsky (Rogan) reunites with his childhood crush, Charlotte Field (Theron), now one of the most influential women in the world. As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter and sparks fly.”

Despite my lack of enthusiasm to watch this film I really like both Seth Rogan and Charlize Theron.

Charlize Theron is not only an insanely beautiful and talented actress but I find Seth Rogan hilarious. I’m 41 years old and have an extremely immature sense of humour so his comedy hits my funny bone every single time!

I really liked how their totally different personalities played off so well against each other.

Another thing I liked about the film is that Rogan represents the “ordinary guy” (someone I can relate to). Someone who through being himself and being good at what he does can manage to not only attract someone as hot as Charlize Theron (or her character at least), but also influence her based on the purety of his personality and intentions.

I’m not saying it’s 100% believable unfortunately (but then that’s the point) but it gives us “normal guys” hope that there are women out there that are after more than Brad Pitt from Fight Club with a bank balance to match what Pitt got paid for that movie. Fortunately I’ve found such a woman (just in case she’s reading this...I doubt it). 😘

This is a decent watch that’ll have you chuckling, even if it’s not necessarily the best or most believable comedy you’ll ever see. Give it a go.

Seen it? Let me know. 👇
