Jack Frost (1998)

I don’t know about you but I had a really nice time off over Christmas and New Year. It was kind of nice having an excuse not to do anything and I watched a load of TV and films, including this one:

Jack Frost (1998)

Although I’ve seen bits of it on TV in the past, I’ve never sat and watched this movie all the way through. I finally did recently and I loved it!

It’s a really nice film but very sad, and the fact that we lost the beautiful and talented Kelly Preston who stars in it last year, makes it even sadder.

If you haven’t seen it, it stars Michael Keaton (Batman), Kelli Preston (Twins), Joseph Cross (Lincoln) and Mark Addy (The Full Monty).

Here’s what it’s about according to IMDb:

“A father who can't keep his promises dies in a car accident. One year later, he returns as a snowman for one last chance to put things right with his son before he is gone forever.”

In one of the final scenes in the film, “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac is playing and I can’t stop listening to it. It’s such a gorgeous song!

I guess there are far worse songs to have stuck in your head...👌

Trivia: George Clooney was originally cast to play the lead role in this film but left the project to make Batman & Robin (1997).

Since he left quite late in the film’s development, the effects team (Jim Henson’s Creature Shop) had already designed the snowman’s features around his. When Michael Keaton was cast, a couple of minor changes were added to make it look more like him but it’s basically still modelled on George Clooney.

Here’s the song I mentioned above. Give it a listen.👇
