Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)

I watched Hot Tub Time Machine (2010) last night. It’s one of my favourite comedies, but as good as it is, sadly a lot of people are put off by the title. 😳

It stars John Cusack (High Fidelity), Rob Corddry (What Happens In Vegas), Craig Robinson (Pineapple Express) and Clark Duke (Kick-Ass) among others.

If you haven’t seen it, here’s what it’s about...

Three estranged, down on their luck friends (and one’s nephew) decide to reconnect by going back to a ski resort they had fun times at during their youth. But when an illegal Russian energy drink called Chernobly gets spilt on their hot tub consol during a night of drinking and drugs, something strange happens. The next morning they discover they’ve somehow travelled back to 1986.

With all the best intentions of reliving the exact same events of one fateful night, they see an opportunity to change their future lives for the better.

I’ve always been a fan of John Cusack and the fact that he was a big 80s star himself makes this film even better. I have to say though, it’s Rob Corddry that makes this film for me. He totally steals the show and is hilarious as Lou!

Look out for cameos and supporting roles from other 80s stars like Crispin Glover (Back to the Future), Chevy Chase (National Lampoon’s Vacation) and William Zabka (The Karate Kid). It also stars a younger, clean cut “Winter Soldier” Sebastian Stan (Captain America and the Avengers movies).

If you fancy something with a lot of laughs that doesn’t take its self too seriously, I can highly recommend this movie. 👍

Still not sure? Here’s the trailer. 👇

Seen it? What do you think?
