Henry Cavill Gets Cast in Highlander Reboot

So you might’ve read last week that a Highlander reboot is in the works and Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) has been cast in the lead role with John Wick director Chad Stahelski directing.

I’ve been reading up on it today and little is known at this point.

A “reboot” doesn’t always mean a “remake” so we could possibly get a sequel or maybe even another character’s story. However, I did read that Cavill has “begun researching how to properly wear a kilt” which kind of implies that he may be playing the same character from the original movies: Connor MacLeod (of the clan MacLeod) formally played by Christopher Lambert.

You probably all know how I feel about remakes and reboots by now, so telling you I’m not overly excited about this will probably come as no surprise.

I like Henry Cavill. Not only is he a decent actor but he seems like a really nice guy in real life. I’m just here once again thinking “Do we really need another reboot of a film that so many people love?” 😳

The original Highlander wasn’t overly successful when it was released back in 1986 and it received mixed reviews from critics. As with a lot of films that bombed on release though, it’s since become one of the most beloved movies of the 1980s and has spawned a string of sequels, not to mention a couple of TV series’.

It’s easy to see why they’ve cast Cavill. Although I haven’t seen The Witcher (Netflix series), I have seen a few images and clips of him in it and it kind of makes sense.

I guess they were going to reboot Highlander anyway so I’m glad he’s involved. If it does turn out to be a remake though, I wonder who they’ll cast as Ramirez...? 🤔

One thing that has been confirmed is that Clancy Brown won’t be returning as The Kurgan. ☹️

How do you feel about a Highlander reboot/remake?
