Event Horizon (1997)

Continuing with the best Sci-Fi films of all time (according to The Screen Room Movie Podcast and you guys), today’s pick is the sci-fi horror:

Event Horizon (1997)

I used to watch this film quite a bit in my late teens. It’s a genuinely scary and slightly underrated sci-fi/ horror starring Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix).

It‘a actually one of the only films directed by Paul W.S. Anderson that I like (I’m not a fan of his after he ruined Resident Evil and Alien Vs Predator for me). It’s hard to believe this film is directed by the same guy!

Here’s what it’s about courtesy of IMDb:

“A rescue crew investigates a spaceship that disappeared into a black hole and has now returned...with someone or something new on-board.“

Although this film flopped at the box office both critically and commercially (it made less than its $60 million budget back) it’s since become a cult classic. Atmospheric and unnerving it’s a must for sci-fi and horror fans alike.

Comment your favourite sci-fi movie for a feature. 👍
