Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

Today's romcom pick on The Valentine's Day Movie Countdown is actually more of a comedy drama than a romantic comedy. It’s one of those films I just decided to watch one day without knowing anything about it other that who was in it, and it turned out to be a brilliant movie!

Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

It stars Steve Carrell (The 40 Year Old Virgin), Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049), Julianne Moore (Hannibal), Emma Stone (La La Land) and Kevin Bacon (Apollo 13) among others.

This is what it’s about with a little help from google:

Cal Weaver (Carell) has a good job, a beautiful house, great kids and a beautiful wife, named Emily (Moore). His seemingly perfect life unravels though when he learns that Emily has been unfaithful and wants a divorce.

Over 40 and suddenly single, Cal is adrift in the fickle world of dating. Enter, Jacob (Gosling), a self-styled player who takes Cal under his wing and teaches him how to be a hit with the ladies.

As always there’s way more to it than that but it at least gives you an idea.

This film is so good! It’s funny, the story is clever, the characters are great (Ryan Gosling’s in particular) and it has some really heartfelt, emotional moments.

If you haven’t seen it and you like a romcom with a touch of class, this is definitely one you should check out.

It’s not on Netflix (UK) but it’s available to Buy & Keep for £3.99 or to rent for £2.99 on Sky. It’s well worth it. 👌

Seen it? Let me know what you think. 👇
