Aron Rolston (127 Hours) Talks About How He Amputated His Own Arm to Survive

Well done to those of you who got today’s Guess the Movie from the Screenshot right. It was indeed from the movie 127 Hours (2010) starring James Franco and directed by Danny Boyle.

Well done also to everyone else who (I presume intentionally) guessed some hilariously incorrect answers. You gave me a good chuckle today. 😆👍

If you’re somehow unaware of the story or just haven’t seen this film, it’s based on the book “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” by Aron Ralston who while hiking alone through Utah’s Canyonlands National Park, slipped down a crevice and got his hand trapped behind a boulder. Pinned there for several days with no sign of help coming he did the unimaginable and cut off his own arm to survive.

In this video Rolston goes back to the very spot it all happened and talks about the harrowing experience of amputating his own arm.

I made it to 3:49 and had to turn it off. As soon as he started describing his tendons as looking like “spaghetti” I was done! 🤢
