Day eleven of my Twelve Films of Christmas and in 2nd place is:
Christmas with the Kranks (2004)
My fiancée and I love this movie!
We watch it every Christmas Eve without fail with a couple of Snowball’s (Advocaat, Lemonade and Lime juice) to start the night. It’s actually the only time of the year either of us drink Snowballs but they’re really moreish!
Usually on Christmas Eve I’d be out for a few beers with friends. The intention is to pop out for a few hours in the afternoon and be home by a sensible time. There has however been the odd occasion that I’ve had one too many to drink and fallen asleep watching this movie, putting me somewhat in the doghouse. No danger of that happening this year...
No matter how many times I watch this film it never fails to make me laugh! Not only is it funny but it’s really heartwarming and the end scene chokes me up every time!
Tim Allen is great but it’s Jamie Lee Curtis who steals the show for me, and Dan Aykroyd is also brilliant as the interfering (but well meaning) neighbour. I only made the connection recently that they were also in Trading Places together.
I’ll be pressing play on this very shortly.
