Was The Dark Knight (2008) Inspired by The Crow (1994)...?

Following on from my post about The Crow (1994) yesterday, someone on Facebook posted this scene comparison with The Dark Knight (2008) in the comments.

I was only saying to someone the day before how strange it was that two actors in the roles of their lives, both with their faces painted for the part tragically died before their films were released.

I don’t know about you but I find this kind of thing interesting.

Are these scene similarities an intentional nod to The Crow or just pure coincidence..? 🤔
