The Blob (1988)

I watched The Blob (1988) last night.

I haven’t seen this film for years but it used to scare the crap out of me as a kid!

Unlike a lot of older films I rewatch, this unfortunately wasn’t quite as good as I remember.

It’s an easy watch sure, but the acting wasn’t great and the special effects weren’t the best I’ve seen compared to other movies from around the same time.

In case you haven’t seen the film, it’s a remake of the 1958 classic of the same name about a deadly acidic entity from space that crashes to Earth and starts to consume everything in its path as it grows (including the townsfolk).

I still enjoyed it but it was missing whatever made an impact on me when I watched it years ago. Maybe I’ve just become de-sensitised by all of the horror movies I’ve seen over the years...

Another remake of The Blob has been in the works for years now and Samuel L. Jackson is attached to the project (according to IMDb).

As much as I hate it when films get the remake treatment, this is one I’m quite interested in seeing happen...
