Today’s comfort movie is one of my favourite Tim Burton films:
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
This is a movie I can watch over and over again!
Not only is Johnny Depp brilliant in it (he’s pretty good in everything to be fair) but it’s just a great gothic-like fairy tale that you can’t not enjoy!
With a fantastic cast including, Christopher Walken (True Romance), Miranda Richardson (Blackadder), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter), Ian McDiarmid (Star Wars) and Christina Ricci (Casper), the film is a loose adaptation of the 1820 short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving.
The plot follows police constable Ichabod Crane (Depp) who is sent from New York City to investigate a series of murders in the village of Sleepy Hollow by a mysterious Headless Horseman.
This film is funny, scary, often gory and just has that magic Tim Burton touch that makes all of his films so unique. It’s also one of the first films I ever saw on dvd.
