Sinister (2012)

I love a decent horror movie but these days most of them tend to be lazy, opting for jump scares over messing with you psychologically.

This one was a refreshing exception.

Sinister (2012)

It stars Ethan Hawke (Training Day) among others and this is what it’s about:

A washed up true crime writer moves his family into a house where the latest in a series of grizzly murders dating back to the 1960s was committed.

When he finds a box of super 8 home movies in the attic showing each of the murders, his investigation leads him to believe that a supernatural force might be involved.

The funny thing is I hounded my best mate who hates horror movies to come and see this movie with me at the cinema. He reluctantly agreed and I ended up watching most of it through slightly parted fingers while he was hardly phased! 😆

Not only is the story good but the performances are great and the music is really unsettling which just makes the whole thing scarier.

A sequel was released a few years later which was ok but not as good as this one.

If you’re bored of let-down horror movies and fancy something that’s actually pretty unnerving, check out Sinister. 👍

Seen it? What do you think? 🤔
