One movie franchise I really like and think was done really well is the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy (2011 - 2017).
All three of these films are excellent and each stands up brilliantly on its own! My favourite though is the second instalment, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).
So many films these days are churned out just to make money with (seemingly) no interest in telling a decent story. This trilogy is a refreshing exception.
The cast of all three films is excellent, starring among others, Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), James Franco (127 Hours), John Lithgow (Cliffhanger), Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) and Woody Harrelson (Zombieland).
The CGI is outstanding and each film tells a different part of the story, from the beginning of the end of humanity to the inevitable conclusion that we all know based on the originals.
If you haven’t seen these films I highly recommend them. The filmmakers did a great job making three really enjoyable movies that make up one of the best trilogies of recent years. 🐒🦍👌
