Movie Villain Monday: Thanos - Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

It’s Movie Villain Monday and this week‘s villain is another of my favourites.

It’s Thanos from The Avengers movies.

Thanos is the main antagonist in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, the bulk of which was told over the two films Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). The "Mad Titan" was played by Josh Brolin.

What I like about Thanos is that he has a decent motive for what he’s trying to achieve.

He’s not just a mindless monster or hungry for power, he genuinely believes that what he’s doing is right and that it’s for the good of the universe.

(SPOILER: He wants to obtain all 6 infinity stones, add them to a specially made gauntlet, snap his fingers and wipe out half of all species in the universe).

Thanos’ reasoning for his plan is to end suffering. He grew up on a planet seeing people starving, “too many mouths, not enough to go around”.

It’s genocide, but he means well. 😆

For me this makes him a more interesting villain than most.

"You could not live with your own failure, and where did that bring you? Back to me."
