As we all know, the legendary Michael Caine had the misfortune of appearing in the fourth Jaws instalment, Jaws: The Revenge (1987). He’s since referred to it as “one of the worst pictures” he’s done.
Despite the movie being so universally disliked (I actually don’t mind it), Sir Michael was paid $1 million dollars for two weeks work in the Bahamas and with the money, he bought his mother a house.
Someone said to him some time after the film’s release, “I saw that Jaws 4. It stinks.” to which Michael Caine replied, “I haven’t seen it, but I’ve seen the house it bought my mother and it’s marvellous!”
Unfortunately the schedule on Jaws: The Revenge was so tight that he was unable to personally accept his first Oscar for the 1986 film, Hannah and Her Sisters.
