In Time (2011)

Yet another film I rarely hear mentioned is the sci-fi, action, thriller:

In Time (2011)

Whenever I tell people about this movie I always feel the need to defend the casting of Justin Timberlake when I see the look on their faces. It’s a really good film!

If you haven’t seen it, it’s written and directed by Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, The Truman Show) and stars (as I said) Justin Timberlake (The Social Network), Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia), Cillian Murphy (Inception) and Olivia Wilde (TRON: Legacy).

This is what it’s about:

In the future, human beings have been genetically engineered to stop ageing on their 25th birthday - but it comes with a catch. On this day an internal digital clock located on every person’s arm starts to count down giving them one year to live.

The world’s currency is now time. Some are rich and have more than they’ll ever need and some are poor, living day to day.

When Will Salas (Timberlake) saves a “wealthy” man from time thieves, he wakes up the following morning to find the man dead and a century’s worth of time on his arm.

Falsely accused of murder, Will must go on the run taking the daughter of a very wealthy man (Seyfried) with him.

This is a really good sci-fi movie! I have to admit I wasn’t sure what Justin Timberlake was going to be like in a lead role but he holds his own nicely.

The idea is totally original (although a lawsuit was filed claiming that it was a rip-off of a 1965 short story called “Repent, Harlequin!”) and it’s just a nice, fresh, enjoyable watch.

If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend you track it down and give it a watch.👌

Seen it? Let me know what you think.👇
