On my quest to get through the ever growing list of embarrassingly big films that I’ve somehow never watched, last night I ticked this one off:
Heat (1995)
I’m not really sure how I’ve managed to miss this one for 25 years but I enjoyed it.
I probably didn’t get it before but since watching The Godfather trilogy and other gangster movies like Goodfellas and Scarface, I now get why it was such a big deal to see two actors like Al Pacino and Robert De Niro on screen together. It’s sort of the equivalent of action movie fans getting excited about finally seeing Sly and Arnie together in The Expendables (before anyone kicks off, I am NOT comparing The Expendables to Heat but hopefully you know what I mean).
I particularly enjoyed the diner scene where the two meet face to face for the first time. It’s too bad one’s the good guy and the other‘s the bad guy. I felt they would’ve got on otherwise. 😆
Anyway, great performances all round, especially from De Niro.
It’s made me want to go and watch some of his other films that I haven’t seen (please don’t ask me which ones. I’d hate to lose any tiny shred of credibility I might’ve earned over the past couple of months). 😳😵
On to the next... 👍
