Did You Notice This Shaun of the Dead Easter Egg in Hot Fuzz?

You may or may not have noticed it, but in Hot Fuzz (2007) there’s a nice little blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Easter egg during the supermarket scene when Nick Frost’s character, Danny is browsing through the DVD bargain bin.

While perusing the cover of Supercop (“Meet the cop that can’t be stopped”), Danny’s movie shopping spree is abruptly cut short when Sergeant Angel (Simon Pegg) runs by in hot pursuit of a shoplifter. He promptly tosses the DVD back into the sale bin and joins the chase.

As the DVD lands on top of a load of other titles we get a very quick glimpse of what at first looks like a copy of Shaun of the Dead (2004), just with the title “Zombies Party”. There’s also a very cleverly placed £4.99 sticker over where Simon Peg’s face is on the cover.

It turns out, Shaun of the Dead was released under the title “Zombies Party” in Spain and Portugal.

Who else has spotted this on their many viewings of this brilliant comedy? 🤔
