Currently Watching: Alien (1979) on Sky Horror (channel 312). Not a Christmas movie I know but it would be rude to turn over!
When I was a kid my dad used to try and put me off watching horror films. I remember him talking about this film and The Exorcist (1973) in particular. He and my mum went to see both movies at the cinema and he used their experience as a kind of cautionary tale (it didn’t work).
Apparently there were religious folks on the steps of our local cinema pleading with people not to go in and see the Exorcist. My mum and dad went in regardless and my mum spent most of the film with her face hidden behind my dad’s shoulder.
Despite his attempts at putting me off, I love both films. Sorry dad!
