Chef (2014)

I’m always complaining that they don’t make “good” films anymore.

Of course I like a lot of the films that get released, but every now and again I want to watch something that has a great story that doesn’t rely on CGI to entertain. I’ve seen a few films in recent years that tick that box (Green Book being the most recent) and this is definitely another one.

Chef (2014)

Written, directed by and starring Jon Favreau (Iron Man), it also stars John Leguizamo (Romeo and Juliette), Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man) and has small supporting roles from Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.

The movie is about a head chef (Favreau) who quits his job at a popular Los Angeles restaurant and buys a food truck after receiving a bad review from a well known food critic.

While driving the food truck across America he rediscovers his love for cooking, while at the same time repairing his relationship with his estranged son.

I love this film!

It’s got a nice simple story, a good cast, comedy and a lot of heart.

If you’re looking for something to watch tonight, do yourself a favour and watch Chef.👌

P.S John Favreau now has a show called "The Chef Show" on Netflix where he invites fellow celebrities to cook with him. It was created off the back of this film. 👨🏻‍🍳
