This is British artist Tom Chantrell holding his unfinished Star Wars movie poster artwork. The picture was taken by his wife in 1977.
Tom was responsible for many of the famous movie posters of the 1960s, 70s and 80s, including The King and I (1956), One Million Years B.C. (1966), Night of the Living Dead (1968) and several of the Carry On and Hammer Horror films.
In 1977 Chantrell was commissioned by 20th Century Fox to produce poster artwork for the British release of a new sci-fi fantasy film being released the same year. The rest as they say is history.
Sadly Tom died in 2001 aged 84.
