A Quiet Place Part II (2021)

Yesterday was a pretty big day for me. It was the first time I’d set foot in a cinema since before all the COVID craziness happened and I went to see Bad Boys for Life back in January 2020.

The film I went to see yesterday has been at the top of my list as far as movies I’ve been wanting to watch, and one I was hoping to see in March 2020 before the pandemic ruined all of our lives. ☹️

A Quiet Place Part II (2021)

If you saw my previous posts you’ll know that I love the first film and that when I saw that a sequel was in the works I was disappointed that they couldn’t just leave things alone. However, I saw the trailer to A Quiet Place Part II and got excited immediately!

If you haven’t seen it, it stars Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow), Cillian Murphay (28 Days Later), Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator), and reprising their roles from the first film are Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe and John Krasinski (13 Hours) who also directed both movies.

This is what it’s about:

Following the deadly events at their home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realise that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats lurking beyond the sand path.

I loved this movie!

It more or less carries on exactly where the first film left off, but we’re treated to an opening scene where we get to see how the creatures first appeared and changed life as we know it. John Krasinski returns for that scene and it’s one of the best bits of the movie!

The pace is good, the performances are excellent (especially by the younger actors) and the story throws a few new elements into the mix which keeps everything interesting.

The soundtrack score by Marco Beltrami is also superb and does such a great job of emphasising both the scary and the emotional moments! 👌

Cillian Murphay takes over from John Krasinski as the male lead in this one and he’s brilliant! I’m a fan of his anyway but he fits in really well to the already established cast.

[MINOR SPOILER ALERT]

Judging by the ending there’ll be a Quiet Place Part III and I can’t wait! I just hope they wrap it up there rather than keep churning out sequel after sequel. It could make an epic trilogy if they decide to quit while they’re ahead. 👌

I noticed that this movie has a rating of 7.9/10 on IMDb - a higher rating than the first film which is rated 7.5/10. I don’t go by ratings but I do find that most of the time I agree with IMDb. However, as much as I liked this movie I still think the first one is better. There’s not a lot in it though.

If you liked A Quiet Place (2018) you’re gonna love A Quiet Place Part II. I did and it was great to finally get back into the cinema! 🙌

Seen it? Let me know what you thought of it.👇
