There are some films that I feel should’ve stayed stand alone movies and never had sequels made. Films like The Matrix, Taken, Pirates of the Caribbean and John Wick (although I do like the sequels to that one).
Anyway, this film is one that when I heard a sequel was in the works I thought “Why?! It’s not needed!” Then I saw the trailer and now I can’t wait to watch it!
I’m talking about A Quiet Place (2018).
The film follows a family trying to survive in a post apocalyptic world where most of the population have been wiped out by mysterious sightless creatures with acute hearing.
Directed by and starring John Krasinski (The American Office) and Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) this is a great thriller that not only offers up a new(ish) concept, but that also has a decent amounts of tension and scares and a story that establishes the characters enough for us to actually care if they live.
